Becoming a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar (learn more). |
|
As Harris County’s Voter Registrar, Paul Bettencourt is charged with registering every eligible citizen to vote.
To this end, the Harris County Tax Office partners with the community in many outreach efforts. Along with maintaining a presence in various community festivals and events, the Tax Office produced a public service announcement with the help of NFL newcomers, the Houston Texans encouraging citizens to register to vote.
Make Your Voice Heard Voterthon
In the last few years, the Tax Office has partnered with several media outlets to reach a mass audience and heighten awareness about the importance of voter registration. The format which has proven most useful in our media outreach efforts has been a Voterthon, where from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on the Friday before the voter registration deadline for the general election, viewers are encouraged to visit their nearest Tax Office or come by the television studio to register to vote.
The Tax Office has partnered with KXLN-TV Univision Channel 45 and KTRK-TV abc Channel 13, along with numerous radio outlets and Fiesta Mart, Inc. for voter registration drives.
